Psychotherapy by eye movements
EMDR

Duration of the session: 1 hour

A psychotherapy for those who suffer from psychological trauma related to past events.

Firstly, we make sure that EMDR treatment is appropriate for the person.

How does EMDR therapy work?

EMDR is useful to treat the following traumas:

. Confrontation with death
. Return from mission/ war (military)
. Grief
. Aggression/attack
. Natural disaster

Once EMDR is considered to be the right therapy, a goal is set and a climate of trust is then established. The eye movement sessions can begin.

The client is asked to focus on the traumatic memory, its details, components and key moments. He/she then follows the movement of my finger with the eyes to let ideas come up in free association. We will repeat this until the memory no longer generates disturbances.

We then finish by installing a positive sensation.

The number of sessions depends on how quickly the client can reprocess the memory, usually three to four sessions are necessary.

EMDR therapy has been the subject of many international scientific studies. It is recognized in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder by the WHO (2013), INSERM (2004 and 2015) and the French High Authority for Health (2007).
